Gavin Jones is currently an executive at Moore Debt Advisory Jhb (Pty) Ltd. Gavin is a career group-level executive with over 28 years of experience in strengthening and leading all aspects of funding, corporate restructuring, debt capital markets, structured finance, liquidity, liability management, balance sheet management and treasury management within financial services and banking environments. Gavin has delivered results and managed large teams in the context of complex transactions in high growth, transition and turnaround situations in both growing and declining economies. Gavin is a collaborative leader who has led both large and focused teams of professionals in winning, negotiating and successfully executing substantial, complex transactions, as well as strengthening treasury and funding capability. Gavin recently played a crucial and leading role during the curatorship period of African Bank and the restructured delelivery of a new “good bank / bad bank” outcome in that process. Gavin worked closely with the South African Reserve Bank and other regulators during this process. Gavin is decisive and driven, with the ability to inspire others and initiate ideas. He is a respected leader and advisor with the ability to gain trust and build rapport quickly and in whom others confide. Gavin read law at the University of Cape Town, obtaining a BA, LLB degree in 1988 and holds a Diploma in Taxation Law from the University of the Witwatersrand, obtained in 1992. Gavin has recently completed Business Restructuring Practitioner Short Learning Programme at the University of Johannesburg (2020).
