Compulsory purchase compensation
Globally, compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) and especially those relating to major infrastructure projects, such as the London Olympics and Crossrail have come under the spotlight recently. So, too, has the issue of compensation paid to those adversely affected by CPOs, particularly as recent cases involving forensic accountants have led to higher awards.
One of the key areas where we are able to assist is in assessing compensation claims for disturbance costs, in particular loss of profits. We also quantify the compensation due on extinguishment of a business, whether this is an entire business or just a single branch. Where valuations are involved, we work closely with Moore’s corporate finance department who are experienced in all types of valuation work.
We are available to advise at any stage in the CPO process. For example, we are experienced in assisting in the formulation or review of advance payment requests, advising the negotiating parties and giving evidence.
