Moore Stephens CIMA Trainee Scores Highest Marks in the World

Devin.jpgIn February this year, Devin Kruger wrote the CIMA strategic case study, also known as Final Top CIMA exam, which is the final academic hurdle to pass in an extensive series of tests, exams and case studies to take for the CIMA professional qualification. The February Top CIMA case study is one of four opportunities students have during the year to write the paper. With about 5000 newly- qualified CIMA members registering annually, it is estimated that more than a thousand students write this exam per sitting.

This month, Devin was informed by Ms Nita Patel of the London-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants that he not only passed the February paper, but also that he (jointly with another student) received the highest marks in the world. For this exceptional achievement, CIMA will be flying Devin to the UK later this year, to attend a special awards ceremony. Needless to say, his family, friends and work colleagues are all super proud of him.

Devin grew up in George (South Africa) where he completed his high school career at Glenwood House High School. He attended the University of Stellenbosch, where he completed his undergraduate degree as well as his Honours degree in Management Accounting, which focus on preparing students for CIMA qualification studies.

Devin joined the Management Services team at Moore Stephens Stellenbosch as a first year CIMA trainee in January 2018. Moore Stephens Management Services started its CIMA traineeship programme in 2007 and has created over 60 CIMA learnership opportunities over the past decade.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), founded in 1919, is the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants. As mentioned above, it registers 5000 newly-qualified members a year and an average of 33 500 new CIMA students sign up each year. CIMA members are present in 177 countries.

Devin is one of many who work hard towards their CIMA qualifications, but this round he was literally the best. Well done, Devin!
